Prof. Parks’ Quick Tips:
1.       Present the Subject Clearly. Don’t skew or obfuscate the FACTS.  Even if you love the company/organization, you still need to present its weaknesses. Similarly, if you detest the company, you should still discuss what it does well. A committed, yet believable evaluation is desirable.
2.       Use Precise, Vivid, and Original Language
This is your evaluation, so it should reflect your thoughts and ideas using language that is original and descriptive. The following bland words shall be BANNED from this essay:
GOOD, BAD, ENTERTAINING, NEAT, AWESOME, UNIQUE, BORING, FUNNY, PERFECT.
3.       Take Detailed Notes. Write Down Everything that Could be Judged or Evaluated. Explore the work environment, the pay, the relationships within the organization, the mission statement, the history and future vision of the organizaiton. Ask other people what they think of the work to help you come up with objections or more perspectives. Read other’s reviews of the same item or similar items to put yourself in dialogue with other critics.
4.        Keep “I” and/or “You” to a minimum. Aim for a formal, authoritative, and confident tone in this essay.
