Anderson University's annual All Hall Olympics took place last week. Students of all ages ran around the Smith-Martin Courtyard like a bunch of children with a sugar high. My overwhelming boredom, along with the near constant roar of voices, caused my Tuesday night to be less than enjoyable.
Late Sunday evening I walk nervously up to the Kardatzke Wellness Center. Upon entering I'm surprise by how dimly lit the building seems to be and by how loud the air conditioning unit is. I start exercising in the weight room where a few other people are already working out. Eventually, I decide to go back to my dorm for the day because I am tired.
Tuesday night the Hall Olympics began. Austin Lyon began the opening ceremony, running in short shorts and a matching shirt while carrying a tiki torch. After the light had been lit the games began with tug-of-war. Students pulled as if lions fighting over a leftover carcass from a hunt. When it was all said and done Rice Hall won the opening game and the girls let out shrieks of joy, sounding not unlike a flock of screeching birds.
